Digging them out of the woodwork
So there I was, talking to the owner of this boatyard where I was thinking of laying up Emily this winter (got to think ahead you know).  We were talking about wind and such things, and I mentioned model flying. Straight away he said he liked to fly models too, whenever he gets the time, which is rarely with a boatyard to look after.

He goes to a local mountain that has a good south to southwest slope and a bog to land in/on. I won't say where this mountain is because you are not really supposed to go there, and I don't want to stir up trouble. But it is possible, and I'll take a look soon.

Actually there is a correlation between sailing and flying. Many sailors like flying too, and us small boat owners, that's the boat that's small not the owner :-) tend to go for flying models. Must be the outdoors and using the forces of wind and weather.

So there you are. If you mention model flying in conversation you might find there are more enthusiasts out there than you would expect. And the more the merrier.Next time I see him I'll mention this web site and the forum, and maybe we will get another ISR recruit.
